Brief history
Located on the old Monticello College, basically a “finishing school for women established in 1838, the College community initiated where co-education class in 1970, while the Monticello has had its last class in 1971 and closed the year.
Campus Features
215 acres of beautiful campus of the former College of Monticello was inherited by L & C, as its main campus. Gilman Hall, 1836 is the oldest building on campus. Subsequently Evergreens (1850), Benjamin Godfrey Memorial Chapel (1854), Reid Hall, Caldwell Hall (1890), Baldwin Hall, Fobes Hall (1916), Wade Hall (1926), Albert Hall (1992), Haskel Hall (renovated 2001) , Building or Trimpe Advanced Technology Center, Hatheway Cultural Center, River Bend Arena, Andy Simpson Tennis Complex, McPike mathematics and science, Olin Science building, municipalities, and Daisy and Roger P. Templin Buildings care were added to make the campus complete and very attractive. Over the last decade the strength of students increased by almost 60% annually serves more than 25,000 college students.
